Palisades Park, NJ -- The SJR football team kicks off its 2021 season on Saturday, August 28 when it hosts Good Counsel (MD) at Overpeck Park in Palisades Park, NJ. The match-up between MaxPreps.com Top 100 programs kicks off at 2:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on FloSports. Tickets are $10 each.

Last Time Out
The 2020 season came to a close with a thrilling 20-9 victory over DePaul that saw Audric Estime '21 rush for 212 yards and a touchdown on his way to The Record's Athlete of the Week honors. The win capped a 6-2 season for first-year head coach Dan Marangi and, while there were no playoffs due to Covid-19, the Green Knights once again found themselves near the top of the NJ.com state rankings, finishing 5th in the polls.

In the NFL
The 2021 NFL season will feature 4 Green Knights on the defensive side of the ball for four different franchises. Pro Bowler Devin McCourty '05 remains a captain in the defensive backfield for the New England Patriots, while twin brother and fellow Super Bowl champion Jason '05 will suit up for the Miami Dolphins after signing as a free agent in the off-season. K'Waun Williams '10 enters his fifth season with the San Francisco 49ers, looking to bounce back from an injury-riddled 2020. Lastly, Joe Giles-Harris '15 finds himself in a new uniform, signing with the Buffalo Bills in the off-season. Giles-Harris had seen action for the Jacksonville Jaguars in each of the last two seasons.

SJR will head to Baltimore on Friday, September 3 for an evening match-up with St. Frances Academy, ranked #8 in the MaxPreps Top 100. Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. at Patterson Park in Baltimore. The SJR Alumni Association is hosting a gathering in Washington, DC on Thursday evening and all are invited to both the reception and the game on Friday night.
