The Green Knights hockey team opens its season with a non-conference tilt against Archbishop Stepinac. Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Sport-O-Rama in Monsey, N.Y.
SJR will feature a new look with ten players having fewer than 5 games of varsity experience. Youth brings opportunity as a bevy of talented underclassmen look to have an immediate impact.
A trio of seniors - center
Michael Chang, goaltender
Joseph Monte and left winger
Steven Odierno - hope to lead the team to success in its third season since returning to the Gordon Conference in 2021. Monte will get the start between the pipes in the season opener.
SJR's only action thus far is a 4-1 pre-season victory over Morristown. With the New York state schedule opening in November, Stepinac boasts a 5-3-0 record.
