Reginald Sainte-Rose '92, a mission-driven administrator and leader, has been named the new Director of Athletics at Saint Joseph Regional High School. His tenure will begin July 1, 2023.

"Mr. Sainte-Rose brings a track record of accountability, student engagement, and effective communication to our athletic department," said Principal Michael Bruno '05. "He has shown an ability to effectively lead in a school setting, to motivate young men, and to build a culture of excellence throughout his career."

"I am extremely excited and grateful to rejoin Saint Joseph Regional High School. The rich tradition of athletics, combined with a focus on individual empowerment and collective growth, is a journey I can't wait to continue," explained Sainte-Rose.

"I look forward to building upon the school's storied achievements. I relish the opportunity to guide the holistic development of our student-athletes, pursuing excellence in all things. And I can't wait to collaborate with students and families to support academic and athletic opportunities that nurture dreams and pride that last a lifetime."

Sainte-Rose previously served as Principal in the North Plainfield and Berkeley Heights School Districts after teaching at SJR from 1998-2003. He earned a B.A. in sociology, a minor in business management from Rutgers University, and an M.A. in education/administration supervision from St. Peter's University.

His commitment to culture saw the Somerset Intermediate School recognized as a National School of Character during this tenure. He implemented several mentorship and leadership programs in conjunction with St. John's University, Princeton University (W.E.B. DuBois), and Rutgers University.

Sainte-Rose served as an assistant coach for the Green Knights basketball team this past season. As a head coach at North Plainfield, he was recognized in 2014 as the conference's Coach of the Year while leading the team to one of four consecutive league championships.

Early in his career, he taught and interned under Principal John Job at SJR, while coaching tennis and basketball and moderating student council.

As a student-athlete for the Green Knights, Sainte-Rose earned All-League and All-County honors in basketball, leading the team in scoring as a senior. Originally from Orangeburg, he is one of three brothers to attend SJR (Stevens '90 & Alain '95). An active parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church, Sainte-Rose lives with his wife, Naeemah, and their three children, Sierra, Alessia, and RJ.

"I'd like to thank our committee for its tireless work throughout the process and our student leaders who spent time with our finalists," explained Bruno. "We're thrilled to welcome Mr. Sainte-Rose back to campus and can't wait to see him get started."
