The No. 3 Green Knights face their biggest test of the year on Saturday, putting their perfect 4-0 record on the line against fellow unbeaten No. 4 St. Peter's Prep.
SJR is coming into the game on fire and starting the season 4-0 for the first time since 2015.
The Green Knights are missing the two biggest pieces on the offense with Nate Bailey and Lamar Best both nursing injures suffered in last week's win over Paramus Catholic. The injury to Bailey leaves wide receiver Stalin Knowlden, and running backs Richie Rigoglioso and Kyshawn Bryant with big shoes to fill in both the passing and rushing game.
To fill the place of Best the team will turn to quarterback Mason Geis, who led a second half touchdown drive against Paramus Catholic. This isn't the first time Geis has filled in for Best as in 2024, Geis appeared in 5 games for an injured Best. In those appearances Geis passed for 720 yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
The strongest part of the Green Knights has been their stingy defense, allowing just 26 points through the first three games.
The Pirates enter the game after dominating their first four games against Paramus Catholic, Union City, Shabazz, and Delbarton. The driving force of St. Peter's has been their offense, which has averaged 44 points a game.
The main highlight of the Pirates' offense is quarterback Tyler Bell, a three-year starter committed to UMass Amherst. Bell has thrown for over 500 yards with 13 touchdowns with zero interceptions, completing 63% of his passes. He's also a threat on the ground, rushing for 110 yards and 3 scores while averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
Another big piece of the Pirates' offensive attack is 4-star running back Abdul Turay. Turay is coming off an outstanding 2,517-yard rushing campaign at St. John Vianney in 2024. Now in 2025, Turay has racked up 465 total yards and 3 touchdowns.
On the opposite side of the ball, the Pirates defense has allowed just 12 points per game while forcing 6 turnovers. Over the past 3 games, the Pirates have held their opponents to no more than 100 yards per game. The lowest came against Union City when they allowed just 47 yards.
Kickoff is set for 1 PM at Caven Point. Fans can watch the game's live stream here: https://www.superfootballconferencenetwork.com/sfcnetwork/?B=2767239
