The Green Knights returned home on Thursday afternoon after a long 4-game road trip.
SJR went 2-1-1 in that 4-game stretch and looked to carry that momentum into Thursday's match up vs Dumont.
The home side got the game started and came out flying. Less than 10 minutes into the game, junior Angelo Paino floated a perfect through ball into freshman Noah Moreno who calmly slid it past the goalkeeper. The boys kept the momentum going and were back on the attack 3 minutes later. Seniors Devon Cambian and Daniel Butler combined beautifully before Cambian placed a perfect shot into the bottom corner, doubling the hosts' lead.
SJR kept battling for the rest of the half looking for more goals. With just over a minute left, senior Jake Fitzsimmons was fouled inside the box and won a penalty. He stepped up and fired the shot past the goalkeeper, making it a comfortable 3-0 lead at halftime. The second half was more domination from the home side and the Green Knights back line was once again a force to be reckoned with.
It was a perfect return home for SJR, who claimed a 3-0 win over Dumont. That's now 3 straight wins for the Green Knights and all shutout victories. A big week is ahead as the boys will play hosts to Tenafly on Monday and Bergen Catholic on Thursday.
