The SJR JV hockey team scored its biggest win of the season, a 9-2 victory over Indian Hills. The Green Knights made their shots count despite being shorthanded.

Steven Odierno opened the scoring on perfect breakout from Paul Giblin and Owen Caputo in the first period before Caputo followed suit with a goal of his own to give SJR a 2-0 lead.

The Green Knights broke thing open in the second. Rocky Russo set up freshman TJ Carvelli for his first career goal before classmate Ryan Whitney added another just seven seconds later. The Braves bounced back, cutting the lead to 4-1, but SJR did not relent.

Whitney scored his second off his own rebound, assisted by Conor Keenan and Andrew Chiarello before Odierno matched him with a one-timer of his own - from Russo and RJ Buscher - to give SJR a 6-1 lead before the period ended.

In the third, Keenan, Russo and Odierno all scored, with the latter completing the hat trick.

Freshman Liam Moloney made 21 saves between the pipes.

The win vaulted SJR atop the standings in the 18-team holiday tournament, though it is the only team to play three games thus far.The squad's final game in the tournament is on Friday, December 31 at 2:00 p.m.
