First Signs of Fall for Green Knights

8/10/2026 9:25:00 AM

The Green Nights Football team was back on the field Monday August 3rd, for the start of training camp, with energy and a new focus on team enthusiasm.

The reigning NJSIAA State Champions took the field at Dinallo Stadium marking the first week of practice of the Fall season. The team started off the week fresh and continued to show their championship mentality of a year ago.

This year's Green Knights feature several veterans like Chaz Gray '27, Tahj Gray '28 and Jonathan Galette '27,  along with some new faces, as all will have the same goal, to repeat in 2026. Head Coach Augie Hoffman was happy with the team's energy to kick off camp and is hoping he has paved the way for this team to succeed, and start the season off on the right foot.

"The defense is playing at a high level," said Hoffmann, who embarks on his third year as Head Coach after returning for the 2024 season.

"The defense makes the offense better. The staff and team are looking great."

The Green Knights have completed their first week of practices and are only getting better. The team will have another busy week ahead as SJR will have the annual Green and Gold game on Saturday, August 15th, 11:00 AM at Dinallo Stadium.

The Green Knights are now less than three weeks away from their highly anticipated season opener. A nationally televised game at Mount Carmel (IL), Friday, August 28th,  at 7:00 PM EST.
