Green Knights Ready for Home Opener

9/4/2026 6:15:00 PM

This Saturday, the Green Knights will play their home opener, hosting Creekside (GA). The game will be at Dinallo Stadium and kickoff is at 1 p.m.

It has been almost 300 days since SJR last played at Tony Karcich Field. That last home appearance was when SJR faced off against the Delbarton Green Wave in a first-round playoff match up in 2025,  where the Green Knights rolled to a 35–0 victory. The Green Knights plan to pick up right where they left off at Dinallo Stadium.

The Creekside Seminoles are led by head coach Maurice Dixon and went undefeated last season (15-0) while winning their respective state championship. This Saturday's match up will feature two reigning state powerhouses.

So far this season the SJR offense has been led by senior co-captain Stalin Knowlden and junior running back Andrew Wilson Jr. Knowlden recorded two receiving touchdowns and one kick return touchdown last week vs Mount Carmel (IL), while Wilson Jr. recorded two rushing touchdowns.

The Green Knights hope to bounce back after falling short in their season opener against in Chicago. Last week, the team showed they have an explosive offense and a talent-filled defense. The offense put five touchdowns on the board, while the defense recorded a safety and a blocked-punt touchdown.

"The mindset is being laser-focused, working hard this week, and making sure we really play to our potential," said senior co-captain Cam Aime.

Unlike the season opener on the road, this game will feature the energized presence of the Green Knights community, including parents, alumni, and fans. Another massive home-field advantage will be the Knight Pit. The Knight Pit features energy-packed SJR students who bring a major impact to the atmosphere.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Dinallo Stadium.
