The SJR football team is back in the winners circle. On Saturday, the Green Knights traveled to Delbarton, and defeated the Green Wave 24-17. After dropping the first two games of the season, the Green Knights have turned the corner, and flipped the script. 

The Green Knights offense was explosive on this September afternoon. Junior running-back Andrew Wilson Jr. scored the lone rushing touchdown, while Freshman Quarterback William Mitchell connected to senior co-captain Stalin Knowlden, for two fourth quarter passing touchdowns. The second of those being the game winning play. 

The Green Knights are one-third of the way through the 2026 season and through the first three games,  Knowlden leads the team in receiving and total touchdowns with six. Andrew Wilson Jr leads the team in rushing touchdowns with three. On the other side of the ball, junior co-captain Tahj Gray leads the team in tackles per game with eight. 

The Green Knights hope to build off their momentum and win on the road again Friday at DePaul. This is a rematch of the 2025 Halloween match up between the two where SJR won 31-14. Kickoff is set for 6PM, Friday night in Wayne.
