It was the semi-final round on Monday (6/7) as the Green Knights looked to advance to the final round of the North Jersey, Non-Public A state tournament. The opposition, Don Bosco Prep. This would the fourth meeting between these two teams in the last two weeks.
Coach
Mark Cieslak turned to his ace,
Sean Hard '21, to keep Don Bosco on their toes. This was Hard's first start against Don Bosco, but he certainly made it seem as though it was just a regular start day. The senior went the distance, tossing 7.0 innings, allowing just 1 hit, and striking out 6. After this performance, Hard made it clear as to why he is not only one of the best players in the state, but in the country.
The offense continues to torch opposing pitching as they collected 8 runs on 15 hits. Leading the charge, as he has done all season, was
Nick Martinez '23. The sophomore went 4-4, scored twice, and drove in 1 on a home run in the second inning. Jimmy Romano '21 also went yard as he tallied his state-leading 9th home run of the season.
This Green Knights team has truly been one for the ages and will always be remembered in their school's history. However, their goal has not been completed.
