Green Knights Confident Heading into Jamboree Quarterfinals

On Tuesday, the SJR basketball team played Paramus Catholic. The Green Knights entered the game on a six-game winning streak, with recent victories over Northern Highlands and Don Bosco Prep.

In the first half, SJR was dominant on both sides of the ball. The Green Knights led 43-24 at halftime after allowing only six points in the second quarter. Coming out of halftime, SJR continued its dominance, maintaining a sizable lead to defeat the Paladins. The final score was 79-62, improving SJR's record to 13-5.

The dynamic duo of Anthony Pacciarelli and Jahmir Joseph shined once again. Pacciarelli led the team in scoring with 28 points, including 12 from beyond the arc. Jahmir Joseph also contributed 26 points in the win, shooting 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Sophomores Alex Mazzella and Chaz Gray each added 10 points.

With this victory, SJR extends its winning streak to seven games and will face Northern Highlands in the quarterfinals of the Bergen County Jamboree. The last time these teams met, SJR prevailed, defeating the Highlanders 63-57 at the Private vs. Public Showcase.

The quarterfinal match up will take place at Hackensack High School on Saturday, February 5, 2025, with tip-off scheduled for 11 a.m.
