On May 30th the Saint Joseph Regional High School hockey team visited the National Hockey League headquarters in New York City.

The team was hosted by SJR hockey alum David Lehanski '92, now the Senior Vice President of Business and Development and Global Partnerships for the NHL. The boys were given a behind the scenes look at the league's innovation hub. The team also brought their Bergen County Championship trophy as they toured the NHL offices, they met with league executives and explored how advanced technologies like NHL Edge tracking data and new Augmented reality (AR) headgear that are shaping the future of the league. NHL leaders such as Keith Horstman, Amanda Barone, and Sean Williams each offered insight to how the league is using data and innovation to engage fans and empower teams.

The visit also included a tour of the NHL Network studio, views from the 26th floor overlooking Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building. The NHL offices treated the team to pizza for lunch and gave them game used pucks as a souvenir. After the presentations and tour the team visited the NHL shop before heading back to Montvale. The trip was a great opportunity for players to learn more about the professional side of the sport and connect with a SJR alum working at the highest level of hockey.
