Green Knights Peaking for BIT Final

10/28/2026 9:57:00 AM

As the soccer season is reaching the home stretch, the Green Knights are looking stronger and stronger.

Over the last two weeks the Green Knights Soccer team has gone 5-1 making an impressive run in the Bergen Invitational Tournament (BIT) and league play.

In the first round of the BIT the Green Knights took on Paramus. The game was 1-1 with a goal from freshman Bryan Fernadez but the match could only be decided by penalties. Senior Jacob Hook saved two penalties and Junior Carlo Guardascione secured the win with the final penalty.

A couple days after the boys took on Bergen Tech in the second round and put together a solid 2-0 win, with goals from sophomore Emmanuel Gavela and freshmen Philip Yoo.

The next week, it was back to league play against rivals DePaul and Bergen Catholic. The week started off strong with a dominant 5-2 win over DePaul. Goals were scored by sophomore Emmanuel Gavela and Emilio Galindo in the first half. In the second half junior Carlo Guardascione, freshman Philip Yoo, and freshman Jesse Weiss closed out the game with three goals. A loss to Bergen Catholic did not deter the Green Knights from their next tournament game.

Bright and early on Saturday morning SJR took on Fairlawn in the BIT semifinal. The boys went down 1-0 early but they didn't stop fighting. In the second half the Green Knights scored three goals, two from sophomore Emmanuel Gavela and one from sophomore Emilio Galindo. The win solidified a spot in the BIT final on Halloween.

Fresh off the exiting win the team returned home for a rivalry game against Don Bosco Prep on Monday and showed no signs of slowing down. The team kept the momentum strong with a 2-1 win over the Ironmen. Next up is a Thursday afternoon match against Pascack Valley before the team shifts its focus to the BIT Final.

This Saturday, on Halloween, the Green Knights will take on Elmwood Park in the BIT final at Indian Hills High School at 4:30 pm. Be there to support your brothers.
