The SJR Soccer team has kick started the 2026 season with two quick wins.

On Monday August 24th the Green Knights opened up their season away at Paramus High School under the lights. The boys kicked off the season with a 1-0 win against the Spartans. Sophomore Emmanuel Gavela scored the first goal of the season for the Green Knights. SJR kept pushing for another goal but couldn't find it. The team defended very well throughout the match keeping a clean sheet.

Wednesday August 26th  the Green Knight traveled to Garfield and made a statement . SJR put out a dominant performance winning 5-0. Freshman Freddy Del Toro had two goals in the first half accompanied by one from Emmanuel Gavela. In the second half the boys didn't stop there. Freshmen Philip Yoo scored one and Emmanuel Gavela netted his second of the day.

The two wins to start the season have the soccer program feeling confident. The Green Knights have all their focus on Friday August 28th,  when they take on Wood-Ridge at home.
